Donald Williams, (Board Member 2019)
Institutional Repository Librarian
University of Alabama Libraries
dgwilliams3@ua.edu
https://guides.lib.ua.edu/ir
Donald Williams is the Institutional Repository Librarian as the University of Alabama. He has been at UA since 2017 and was hired to build and populate the repository there from the ground up. Donald has worked with, and managed, institutional repositories and digital collections since 2010 when he began his career in this field at the University of Utah’s Marriott Library. Making electronic theses and dissertations publicly available in repositories has been a passion of his, and he takes pride in working with students to get their work out in the public sphere. He finds it exciting that theses and dissertations tend to be the research accessed and downloaded the most from IR’s.
In his spare time Donald enjoys reading (he is a librarian after all), voluntary service in his community, and researching religious history. He is married with three young children, and as much as he enjoys his professional career, the title and work he enjoys the most is being a husband and father.
